The Canon Question by Tom Brown

At the heart of the Catholic - Protestant divide is the issue of authority. Protestants believe that the bible alone is the Christians' sole rule for faith and life (sola scriptura). This sounds good but it is actually unbiblical, unhistorical, philosophically untenable, and practically destructive for the Faith. The article below by Tom Brown does a great job of addressing the most prominent Protestant theories for how the Bible came about and why none of them stands up under scrutiny. The issue of the "Canon", those books that are inspired and infallible, is one that Protestants must answer if they want to maintain the doctrine of sola scriptura.
